"Gemming for
PVE &
PVP
First of all, use the 21
agi and 3% crt damage meta gem, for both
pve and
pvp, you need 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 blue for this to work. Buy the Nightmare Tear (10 stats) from an AH and use it to count for the yellow and blue gems, this is better
dps than the epic sovereign (10
str vs. 10
str/10agi). Put your Nightmare Tear in a blue slot where you can get the highest
dps socket bonus. Gem all bold (red, Strength) gems for your red and blue sockets, and for yellow sockets gem all bold gems except
if you have the 2pc T9 bonus read the below section about yellow sockets.
If you're gemming a
PVP set, don't use any etched or inscribed gems, and you can stop reading here.
Using Inscribed/Etched gems in yellow sockets
Sometimes using one inscribed gem (orange, Crit and Strength) in a yellow socket of a piece of gear to gain the socket bonus is a
dps increase (assuming the other slots are red or blue with a Nightmare Tear in it). Typically having 2pc T9 will increase the value of crit rating enough to make inscribed worth it, but there may be cases in which inscribed is worth it without 2pc T9, so you should check your relative stat values on Rawr to see
if you would gain
dps just to double check.
You can also use an etched (orange, Hit and Strength) gem in place of an inscribed gem
if you follow the same guidelines as above and the etched gem doesn't put you over the hit cap (263 Hit Rating) and you calculate the
dps of the etched gem as an inscribed (orange, Crit and Strength) gem of the same rarity and then see
if the socket bonus is worth using an inscribed gem in that yellow slot, and then just put in the etched gem. In this way you would be simply replacing the 10 Crit from the inscribed with 10 Hit from the etched, which is a good trade off. However,
if you were to incorrectly use the stat values for the etched gem to see
if the socket bonus is worth it, you would always be using etched gems, even
if it wasn't worth it to use an inscribed, and therefore you would be using 10 Hit & 10 10
Str gems to replace 20
Str gems, which is a bad trade off. In short,
if you know you have an inscribed gem in a piece of gear and know that it's there for a good reason, you can swap it out for an etched gem to get a small
dps gain assuming all of the points help you towards hit cap (263).
*
If you didn't understand the above, just gem all bold (red, Strength) gems and one Nightmare Tear; I don't want to be walking around and seeing rets with etched/inscribed gems in every socket.

Ist leider Englisch.
Und noch was nützliches:
